FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I obtain crackles?
Start by applying a coat of crackling medium phase 1. Allow to dry, then apply the crackling medium phase 2. Allow to dry once again and the crackles will appear. Then cover all the crackles using Vitrea 160 colours or mediums.

Can I apply successive coats?
Yes, without waiting for the first coat to dry or apply a first coat, bake it, and then apply a second.

Can the mediums be used on their own?
Yes. Gloss medium, which is almost invisible after application, is ideal for making inclusions. The frosted medium produces effects which are extremely similar to engraved glass.

When using for the first time, how do I make the colour run down to the end of the felt tip?
Shake vigourously, then count 30 to 60 seconds, pressing evenly on the tip.

Why did the colours form bubbles on baking?
You probably did not allow the paint to dry for long enough before baking.

The paints did not resist dishwashing very well. Why?
There are several possible reasons. The surface was poorly degreased, the paints were diluted with water or perhaps the instructions regarding the baking temperature or duration were not respected.

Step One - Preparation
	Degrease the surface to be painted. Stir the paint thoroughly. To make the paint more fluid, use Vitrea 160 thinner, not water. Apply the paint, using a wide brush with a continuous and regular stroke.

Step Two - Colouring
	Once the colour is dry, trace a frieze of small dots directly with the nozzle of the relief outliner tube. Allow to dry for 24 hours.

Step Three - Baking
	Place the object in a cold oven and set the temperature to 160oC. When the temperature is reached, allow to bake for 40 minutes, then open the door and allow to cool.
